Physic classes were offered as courses within the Secondary Education Program under the Sciences until the 1973-1974 academic year when it became a department in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics division. It was moved into other divisions periodically until it became part of the College of Arts and Sciences. There is a document in Box 1, Folder 6 that mentioned the name of the department changed to Department of Physics and Engineering Sciences in 1975. School catalogs or department documents did not use that new name, so it is possible that the name was never officially changed.
