Overview

Initially social science courses were part of the general curriculum in 1962, but by 1965 became part of the Liberal Arts and Sciences as a degree program in the Field of Social Sciences. It became a department within the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences by the 1973/74 academic year in order to meet the changes in curriculum structure, but by the next academic year, the department was eliminated and likely merged into the Social Welfare and Sociology programs. The series contains correspondence, meeting minutes, promotional materials, course proposals, etc. Some of the documents in this series have numbers written on the bottom of the pages that was once part of an outdated and abandoned processing system.
