File — Box: 3, Folder: 8
Scope and Contents
From the Record Group:
The records of the Oversized Photograph Collection span the years of 1883 through 1985 with the bulk from 1895-1923. The collection came from the private donations of alumni. It is unknown if any came to the archives through any record transfer from other offices on campus. The collection is organized by subject, which was necessary during processing in the absence of a functional original order. The record group is divided into 5 series that suit the majority of the materials, and they include Series 1 (Students/Campus Life), Series 2 (Administrators/Faculty/Staff), Series 3 (Sports), Series 4 (Class Photos), and Series 5 (Buildings). The contents in each series are arranged in numerical order according to the number on the mylar sleeve covering each photograph. It is not arranged in a normal alphabetical or chronological order.
The collection is small and does not include any pictures beyond 1985. They are important to research because they reveal interesting aspects of fashion changes, student activities, and especially the growth of the college. All photographs have been placed in mylar sleeves and each mylar sleeve is numbered. as a folder would be. Some of the photographs include the names of those in the photo. It is recommended that photographs not be removed from the mylar sleeves in order to scan, copy, or photograph them. This collections is open for research and further donations.
