Scope and Contents
From the Record Group:
This collection documents the activities of the Ezra Lehman Memorial Library from the time the first official library was built in 1932. The records of the library date from 1938-2024 with the bulk of materials dated 1963-2010. The records consist of minutes, correspondence, reports, architectural plans, budgets, self-studies, and statistics. They include materials from departments within the library including those that no longer exist. Each of those departments are described in detail in each series description. The record group is divided into 16 series that include Series 1 (Administration), Series 2 (Strategic Planning), Series 3 (Library Assessment), Series 4 (Reports), Series 5 (Systems), Series 6 (General Business), Series 7 (Faculty), Series 8 (Personnel), Series 9 (Archives and Special Collections), Series 10 (Technical Services), Series 11 (Access Services), Series 12 (Media Services), Series 13 (Events), Series 14 (Committees), Series 15 (Associations), and Series 16 (New Library). The contents of each series are organized alphabetically. Most records of the library are now created and stored electronically on the library S-drive.

Overview
This series includes 3 sub-series: Sub-Series 1 (General Business), Sub-Series 2 (Serials), and Sub-Series 3 (Collection Management. The Technical Services department manages the cataloging of all library materials, academic department spending accounts, the acquisition of library materials, and the overall management of all the collections in the library. Most of the work in the department is done in a non-public environment. The departments that comprise Technical Services include Acquisitions, Cataloging, Serials, and Collection Management. A sub-series for each of these was not created because there were not enough materials to constitute one for each. Cataloging and Acquisitions are incorporated into Sub-Series 1. There are additional meeting minutes and goals and objectives for each department found in electronic format on the library S-drive as well as cataloging statistics. It is important to note that Serials and Periodicals are not the same thing but both are located in Sub-Series 2. Sub-Series 2, Folder 29 holds correspondence that does not fit into any of the other subjects within the Serials sub-series. Materials on serials can also be found in Circulation in the Access Services files in Series 11. Serials once fell under the direction of that department before it was placed under the management of Technical Services. There are no restrictions in this series.
