Scope and Contents

The class files include materials from 1872-2007. They are a collection of programs, bulletins, reunion notices/invitations, commencement announcements and programs, obituaries, class songs, biographical sketches, literary society programs, class lists, dinner menus, dance cards, post cards, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and other materials that document the events important to students.

history and evolution of campus life here at Shippensburg and is comparable to American college life in general. The materials in this collection are important representations of student life, values, and culture. There are some small gaps in the collection, but the largest is over a decade between 1989 and 2001. Most of the items are in good condition. There are some unique items in the collection such as leather postcards, wooden dance cards, and letters of conscription during World War II. This collection is arranged in chronological order according to class dates and does not include series or series descriptions. See more

Biographical / Historical

The Class Files were started as a special collection and converted to a record group in 2023 and relocated to the archives. These files have been compiled over the years by various sources. Some of the materials in this collection have been transferred by people and offices within the college, but most have been donated by alumni.
