Biographical / Historical
Vice President for Student Affairs was previously called Vice President for Administrative and Student Affairs. In 2020, Student Affairs was moved into the unit of Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Student Success. The series in this record group are listed in the order that they appeared on the 2010 Organizational Chart. The functions of this office have only slightly changed over the many years since it was recognized as Student Affairs according to the 1978 Shippensburg State College Organizational Chart. It was called Vice President for Student Personnel in the 1970 organizational chart, at which time the unit included departments and functions that have since been moved into other units.
Student Affairs is the governing body over most student activities, student organizations, and student life. The unit once answered directly to the President of the university but now directly answers to the Enrollment Management unit who then answers directly to the President of the university. The Dean of Students and all units within their jurisdiction (Student Conduct, Counseling, Health Center, Women's Center, Veteran Affairs, and Recreation & Wellness) report to Student Affairs. The organizational charts found in RG1, Ser 6, SubSer 2, B1, F26c will show the units transitions as early as 1964.
