Overview
The elementary school was originally called the Shippensburg Model School when it was part of the Cumberland Valley State Normal School in 1871 and was located on the 1st floor of Old Main. At the time, all Normal Schools were required to have a model school. In 1914 it was moved to a newly constructed building that later was named Gilbert Hall, and in 1915 the name of the school was changed to the Normal Training School to reflect the name of the college.
