This collection documents the activities of University Communications & Marketing, Alumni Relations, and the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center within the division of External Relations & Communications. Materials include correspondence, publications, promotional materials, employee obituaries, manuscripts, committee minutes, reports, donations, photographs, and program brochures. The record group is divided into three series that include Series 1 (University Communications and Marketing), Series 2 (Alumni Relations), and Series 3 (H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center). Series 1 contains 7 sub-series: Sub-Series 1 (General Business), Sub-Series 2 (SU News), Sub-Series 3 (Vista), Sub-Series 4 (Proteus), Sub-Series 5 (FACT), Sub-Series 6 (News Releases), and Sub-Series 7 (Promotional Materials). Series 2 contains 4 sub-series: Sub-Series 1 (General Business), Sub-Series 2 (Publications), Sub-Series 3 (Alumni Association), and Sub-Series 4 (Little Red Schoolhouse). Each series and sub-series is arranged in alphatical order.
Series 1 contains a large collection of magazines and news releases that are a testament to campus changes and campus culture. The FACT and News Releases are no longer published and have been replaced with the SU News announcements. Each publication is housed in a separate sub-series. Series 2 includes the records of the Little Red Schoolhouse and Humanities on the Road documentation.

Overview
This series includes Sub-Series 1 (General Business), Sub-Series 2 (Publications), Sub-Series 3 (Alumni Association), Sub-Series 4 (Little Red Schoolhouse), and Sub-Series 5 (Alumni Donations). This series contains alumni testimonials that are historical recollections about campus events and structures located in Sub-Series 1, Box 1, Folder 15. Before the SU Foundation was established, alumni fundraising was called the Loyalty Fund Drive (Folder 7), but after the Foundation was established, it was called Alumni Annual Giving (Folder 3). Sub-Series 2 contains the publications produced by the Alumni Office that highlight events and activities of the college and the alumni. Box 3, Folder 9 contains a photograph of those who played in the 2024 Alumni Women’s Basketball Game.The Alumni Newsletter began as a traditional newsletter until 1975 when the format was changed into a conventional sized newspaper, and then in 1986 the newspaper was published into a smaller version. Box 3 is an oversize box that houses the conventional sized format. Many of the materials in Sub-Series 4 (Little Red Schoolhouse) were created at the time the school was called the Mount Jackson Potato School. Notable documents in this sub-series include student penmanship books and a catalogue bulletin that has a photo of one of the teachers of the one-room schoolhouse who was the mother of the donor of the item. Sub-Series 5 (Alumni Donations) contains materials donated by alumni. This sub-series is organized in the order the materials are received, and each folder is titled with the donor’s name.

Most of this series is arranged in alphabetical order excluding Sub-Series 5, which is organized in the order the materials are received.
