Scope and Contents

From the Record Group: This collection documents the activities of Margaret P. Evans. Included are prints, negatives, slides, photographs, digital collections, and miscellaneous works. For some projects there are more than one format for a single image. The work that comprises this collection was created between 1970 and 2004. The vast majority of the contents of this collection are from Margaret P. Evans’ professional endeavors as a photographer and college educator. However, there are records from her personal life as well. Among the collection are professional photographic projects including her work on steel mills, the Polish textile industry, the Everglades, portraits, the Upstairs Room, Mythic Images, polaroid work, Girls in White Dresses, and barns. Much of her work has taken place in the eastern United States. Some portions of her personal records are from Africa, South America, Europe, and Korea. Evans’ project on the Polish textile industry took place in Lodz, Poland. Her teaching materials from her time as an educator at Shippensburg University are also included in the collection.

The records are arranged in 6 series. That includes Series 1 (prints), Series 2 (negatives), Series 3 (slides), Series 4 (photographs), Series 5 (digital collections), and Series 6 (miscellaneous). The contents of each series are arranged alphabetically.
