Scope and Contents

From the Record Group: The class files include materials from 1872-2007. They are a collection of programs, bulletins, reunion notices/invitations, commencement announcements and programs, obituaries, class songs, biographical sketches, literary society programs, class lists, dinner menus, dance cards, post cards, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and other materials that document the events important to students.

The collection provides insight into the history and evolution of campus life here at Shippensburg and is comparable to American college life in general. The materials in this collection are important representations of student life, values, and culture. There are some small gaps in the collection, but the largest is over a decade between 1989 and 2001. Most of the items are in good condition. There are some unique items in the collection such as leather postcards, wooden dance cards, and letters of conscription during World War II. This collection is arranged in chronological order according to class dates and does not include series or series descriptions.
